Women's Hearth receives $1,350 grant from the Innovia Foundation

Funding from the Innovia Foundation will be used for the Women's Hearth Educational Programs, including the Responsible Renters program and Mental Health classes (HeArt of the Emotions art class). Programs at the Women's Hearth were funded by a grant from the AAUW Community Project Fund at Innovia Foundation: $1,000 of these funds will go toward the Responsible Renters program, split $500 for Responsible Renter staff (including AmeriCorps members) for trainings, and $500 for Responsible Renter supplies for classes and partner agency trainings. The Responsible Renters program offers participants the opportunities to learn skills to address barriers to attaining and retaining stable housing. The other $350 will go toward Women's Hearth mental health classes (HeArt of the Emotions art class). The HeArt of the Emotions art classes help participants learn to manage their emotions, boundaries, and socially acceptable expressions.

Transitions' Women's Hearth provides a one-of-a-kind downtown day drop-in center for women, offering community, activities, social service referrals and classes. Services offered include access to phones, computers, healthy food, hygiene supplies, free showers, and a medical respite room.
