Tech Center

computer labThe need for access to computers and the internet

seems to increase every day! Transitions has

responded to this trend by installing computer labs

at Women's Hearth, Miryam's House and the

Transitional Living Center. These computers are

used to:

  • search for jobs
  • search for housing
  • apply for jobs
  • apply for social services and benefits
  • send email to friends, family and employers
  • locate and print legal forms
  • locate health information

The lab at Women's Hearth received 10 new computers through a federal grant administered by Tincan.  The software installed on these machines includes Microsoft Office (includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Publisher), Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, Photoshop and various games. Lab monitors are always on duty to assist users with any problems they encounter. Resources include a laser printer, an inkjet printer for color printing, and a full-page scanner. Free CDs are available for storing files.

The lab at Transitional Housing Center has six workstations, two printers and a scanner.

The lab at Miryam's House has four workstations and a laser printer.

If you would like to support this vital resource please consider donating time to teach computer skills, paper for printing applications, ink, thumb drives or updated machines to any of these computer labs.
