Miryam's House offers a supportive, nurturing environment for women recovering from crises related to homelessness, abuse, addiction and displacement. Housing is offered for one year with a focus on promoting permanent changes through healing, learning and growth toward self-sufficiency and financial stability.
The philosophy of care at Miryam's emphasizes an empowerment model of personal responsibility for individual growth along with community (residents) and staff support. Miryam's House has 9 individual rooms and an efficiency apartment offering a permanent housing "next step."
The primary components of the residential program at Miryam's House are:
- case management
- 24 hour access to professional, caring staff
- life/social skills education
Miryam's House provides ongoing support for residents through an aftercare program referred to as the Alum program. We have been offering this program to women who are unsuccessful in our program, as well as those who depart successfully, to help them maintain or achieve stability.
The alumnae program includes
- 1-1 case management
- support groups
- socialization activities
